The Crux DSW is more than just the lightest aluminum gravel bike we’ve ever made. We took everything we learned developing the carbon Crux and applied it to our patented D’Aluisio Smartweld to make it an aluminum reality. It’s the most capable, agile, balanced, and responsive aluminum gravel bike ever made. Oh yeah, it’s also the lightest. Some call it a carbon copy—we call it the Crux DSW.
Featherweight
At just 1,399 grams*, the Crux DSW is Specialized’s lightest aluminum gravel frame ever. Combined with our performance-engineered Fact12r carbon Crux fork, the complete Crux DSW weighs just 9.37 kg.
*Size 56 in the lightest color. Production frames may vary.
The most capable
More clearance means more capability – that’s why the Crux DSW has the same tire clearance as its carbon sibling: 47mm and up to 2.1” on a 650b wheel. Combined with a lightweight and strong aluminum frame, the Crux DSW can take you where you want to go without breaking a sweat.
Ultra-responsive
Responsive under pedaling. Supple in the saddle. We used D’Aluisio Smartweld technology to refine the properties of aluminum to deliver behavior not possible without carbon and combined it with the same race-influenced performance gravel geometry as its carbon sibling. A longer reach allows for better weight distribution for snappy, confident handling, while a lower stack creates a performance-optimized position. With a 72mm BB drop, we found the sweet spot between agility and stability.
D'Aluisio Smartweld
How do you make the lightest aluminum gravel bike possible, give it clearance for 47mm tires, and give it a smooth, responsive ride never before possible in aluminum? It’s pretty simple if you’ve developed a completely new way to weld aluminum bikes. The guys at the Specialized Science Club call it D’Aluisio Smartweld—it’s patented, and it’s why the Crux DSW is more than just the lightest aluminum gravel bike we’ve ever made.D’Aluisio Smartweld – or DSW – is an engineering process that uses hydroforming to precisely match the joints between tubes to achieve higher quality, stronger welds and ultimately a lighter frame that can be twice as durable as a traditional aluminum frame. Smartweld helps us create a one-piece down tube and bottom bracket specific to the Crux DSW, reducing weight and increasing responsiveness.
- Lightest: 1,399g Crux DSW frame (raw, unpainted). We took everything we learned developing the carbon Crux and applied it to our D'Aluisio Smartweld patent to make it an aluminum reality.
- Capacity: 47c/650b x 2.1-inch tire clearance. More clearance means more capability. With tire clearance similar to the Diverge, the Crux gets you where you want to go.
- Responsiveness: agile, comfortable and responsive. Responsive on the pedals. Comfortable in the saddle. With a high-performance gravel geometry inspired by competition and the iconic history of the Crux in the world of “cross”.
